HAITIANS SENT BACK HOME - 67 returned to their homeland

I guess Jamaica give the Haitians the same ratings as the U.S., and insist they should go home and help rebuild there country.

Sixty-seven Haitians were last night transported by boat from the Ken Wright Pier in Port Antonio, Portland, back to their homeland, after fleeing economic hardship and starvation.

Included in the batch were the 62 persons who landed in two groups on March 23. The other Haitians include a 16-year-old boy who landed illegally on February 12, and four Haitian males who were incarcerated in a jail in Kingston.

"We have a responsibility to ensure they are safely onboard," said Inspector Steve Brown, head of the Constabulary Communication Network. "They were transported by a Jamaica Defence Force coast guard vessel ...," he said. The Haitians boarded the coast guard vessel at approximately 8:45 p.m. and it set sail at exactly 9:05 p.m., amidst waves of goodbyes from social workers attached to the Red Cross and the Adventist Relief Agency.

"We were just getting to know them," said Gloria Miller, a social worker from the Port Antonio Red Cross. "They were an obedient bunch, and it is a bit sad to see them go. I am really going to miss them, but I will cherish the memories as I learnt a lot from them."

The Haitians were transported from the Port Antonio Seventh Day Adventist Church by bus shortly before 8 p.m., and as they boarded the vessel, they tearfully waved goodbye to the many social workers and police personnel.

The persistent crying of a year-and-half-old baby, who was admitted to hospital for two days suffering from dehydration, after arriving on the island, could also be heard.

Just before they boarded the vessel, the Haitians received additional medical treatment from health personnel

Chuckle Berry - Good Life

Dancehall artiste Chuckle Berry is looking to duplicate the success he enjoyed last year with his chart-topping single titled Good Life, which was produced by Jamaican music pioneers Sly and Robbie.

The talented deejay who hails from Steer Town, St Ann, is currently heating up the local airwaves with another Sly and Robbie-produced single titled, So Bad.

Since its release a month ago, So Bad has been getting heavy rotation on FM stations such as Irie FM, HITz 92 FM, Zip and FAME FM. It is also getting good rotation abroad in countries such as England, France, Germany and Italy.

A member of Chuckle Berry's management team says a video will be shot and released in support of So Bad, before the middle of this summer. He also stated that the artiste is currently in the studios completing his debut album and interest is already being shown in the project by an overseas-based company.

Chuckle Berry clawed his way into the spotlight last year with his number-one hit Good Life. Before that he had racked up a series of radio hits such as Rasta Nuh Tek Life,Bad Man, Giving It To Her and El Numero which was done in tandem with Tsahai on the Love Injection label.

Six months ago, was when I first heard of Fudgie Springer, and thought to myself is this some type of joke or gimmick, and do he really take this music serious. On the net he had one of the best marketing campaigns, I have seen for an independent artist, that gathered this much attention in a long time. He create a buzz for himself that I now can't deny, and he rewards seems to be paying off. The song "Couple Up" is getting buzz in Jamaica, which will eventually take him international, which he already maybe just from looking through pictures of him and every flavor of women you can name. Ch-n (Pronounce Chin) was born in Kingston, jamaica. At the age of 14 he became interested in Dee Jaying (Jamaican version of Rapping). Ch-n, who is now in his early 20's notes Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Buju Banton, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes,Elephant Man as some o f his major musical influences. When it comes to music , ch-n reports that, this is what I always wanted to do, music has always been part of my life (His father was DJ and his uncle was a dancehall artist name Chippy Ranks, who had a mildly successful music career in the early 90'). Ch-n love for music came around the same time he migrated from Kingston, Jamaica to Brooklyn, New York in the early part of 1991. This is the year that Buju Banton released his first song Browning, which he says, touched him in a very special way and forced him to start paying more attention to music. However, it was not until 1992 when he first found a copy of Snoop Dog Doggy Style Album that he came up with the idea to rap. In 1994 Ch-n went to back to Jamaica for summer and fell in love with the dancehall music. For the first time in years, I was surrounded by nothing but reggae music, and said that he learned every song on the radio that summer in Jamaica. When he returned to New York he decided to combine the musical styles of Dancehall Reggae and Hardcore Hip-hop that he now refers to as Fusion Music Ch-n is a natural performer and has opened up for Badboy entertainment Loon,, Capleton and many others entertainers

62 Haitians land in Portland

The police have confirmed that 62 Haitian nationals landed in Portland this morning in two boats.

The first boat landed at approximately 3:30 am at Manchioneal carrying 35 Haitians (24 men – 6 women and five children).

The second boat landed at Winifred’s Beach at approximately 8:30 am with 27 Haitians (24 male – two women and one child).

The 62 Haitians are being medically checked by representatives of the Ministry of Health. Other agencies of government including representatives from the Immigration Department are at the centres where the Haitians are now located.

After weeks of disruptive behaviour, deejays Vybz Kartel and Blak Ryno met with local authorities to discuss their rumoured tension.
Sources from the St Andrew North police told THE STAR that the artistes visited the Constant Spring Police Station on Tuesday where they spoke about issues which were of major concern. Among these was the rumoured tension between the two that are believed to to have spiralled into violent incidents.
When contacted, Kartel made it clear that there was no 'war' going on between himself and his former protégé, Blak Ryno. When asked about what was discussed in the meeting he said, "Nothing of any significance or importance to the country's welfare or well being. We didn't discuss corruption, etc."
Deputy Superintendent Altermoth 'Parro' Campbell, Crime Chief for the division told THE STAR that the men were urged to conform with law and order and keep the peace. DSP Campbell said they both agreed to comply.

The Crime Chief elaborated, "We met with them and discussed issues which were causing problems in some divisions. There are some incidents which are said to be caused by the situation between them. Incidents of reprisals and so on. They say they are willing to cooperate with the police."
This meeting comes in light of a series of incidences that have taken place since deejay Blak Ryno's announcement that he was leaving the Vybz Kartel-led Portmore Empire two weeks ago. Ryno had been a member of the Empire since January of 2007 where he was officially signed to Kartel's Adidjaheim Records. Ryno was the latest in a crew of persons to have left the Empire including Gaza Kim, known now as Kym and Lisa Hyper.
On Thursday of last week, deejay Popcaan, Kartel's new protégé in the Portmore Empire, was one of several men reportedly detained during a police operation at a studio in Havendale, St Andrew.

The detention of Popcaan and Vybz Kartel's visit to the station come a day after Blak Ryno's Winchester Court Apartment in St Andrew was destroyed by fire. The cause of that fire is still not known but it is rumoured that the apartment was firebombed.
When contacted last week, Superintendent Derrick 'Cowboy' Knight, Head of the St Andrew Central police said "We would not have received word on the cause of the fire yet ... . The fire people would still be doing their investigations."

One of the most well known empire members and arguable one of the most talented, Jah Vinci sings his heart out in his new song entitled "Rumor". Jah Vinci, who's real name is André Kirk Rhoden, has been with the Portmore Empire since 2008 and rose to popularity with the song Weh Dem Ago alongside Vybz Kartel. In this song the singer addresses some of the rumors that have been circulating around Jamaica and across the Caribbean about him and his former best friend Black Ryno, who has now parted with the group.

Jah Vinci says "Dem come wid rumour/run dem away/teacha a mi dadda/ Gaza mi sey/hypocrite and parasite a so dem name/waan fi stop mi pon mi walk of fame/a so dem lame/ Gaza mi sey, mi nuh shame/yesterday, tomorrow, today/ just tell di pagan go weh/a Gaza mi sey."

Word on the streets is that some parts of the song was aimed at Black Ryno but you can be the judge of that.

As things are heating up on the Gaza between Vybz Kartel and his former protégé Blak Ryno, ex-Portmore Empire member Lisa Hyper has recorded Call to Addi, urging an end to the dispute.

Having been excommunicated from the Empire late last year, shortly after a picture showing the artistein compromising circumstanceswas released, Lisa Hyper is remembering better days in her song, Call to Addi.

In the song, which was voiced on Tuesday night, Hyper pretends to make a call to her former 'daddy' Vybz Kartel saying, "Nuffy, yuh know sey mi a call Addi yuh know, cause me nuh like wha gwaan yuh know and mi nah go stay aside and watch it."

She continues, "Right now mi a call yuh wid tears inna eyes, mi just forward from Guyana but mi get fi realise, Ryno just lef di camp now him and Popcaan a fight, a wha gwaan, every man pon di Gaza get hype? It look like yuh cyaan talk to nuh man nuh more, but hold on/dem figet a you buss di door, whappen to when every man pon di Gaza did poor?"

As the song progresses, Hyper talks about Ryno's song aimed at Kartel called Mi Lef and Popccan's song Dem Sell Out. She deejays, "Mi nah lie, mi understand wha Ryno a sey we di artiste nuh get di full respect but Ryno yuh see di disrespect dat yuh talk to di Don yuh shouldn't mek yuh mout mek."

She also reminds Popcaan and Ryno about the songs they've done together, and asks Portmore Empire members Jah Vinci and Shawn Storm to talk some sense into Ryno and Popcaan to help bring back peace within the organisation.

After leaving the Empire, Lisa Hyper remained a staunch Gaza supporter, explaining to her fans that she will always say Gaza for life. During numerous performances, the artiste has continued to big up Kartel and the rest of the Empire crew. In the song she still refers to herself as 'the gaza girl.'
